Lucky Number, Gemstone, Colour and Day by Moon Sign
This page looks up the number, gemstone, colour, weekday and metal that tradition links to the planet ruling your Moon sign, so you can see the full set in one place.
Where the associations come from
Each of the twelve signs has a ruling planet. Aries and Scorpio belong to Mars, Taurus and Libra to Venus, Gemini and Virgo to Mercury, Cancer to the Moon, Leo to the Sun, Sagittarius and Pisces to Jupiter, and Capricorn and Aquarius to Saturn. MyAstroLuck finds the sign your Moon was in at birth, takes its ruler and shows the set of correspondences that Navagraha tradition gives that planet.
These correspondences are old cultural pairings. The Sun goes with ruby, gold, orange, Sunday and the number 1. The Moon goes with pearl, silver, white, Monday and 2. Mars goes with red coral, copper, red, Tuesday and 9. Mercury goes with emerald, bronze, green, Wednesday and 5. Jupiter goes with yellow sapphire, gold, yellow, Thursday and 3. Venus goes with diamond, silver, pink, Friday and 6. Saturn goes with blue sapphire, iron, dark blue, Saturday and 8.
Reading the result
The result names the planet it is based on, then lists the number, stone, colour, day and metal. Some people like to use the colour or the day as a small personal reminder, or to choose a meaningful date. Others are simply curious about the symbolism attached to their Moon sign.
A gemstone listed here is a traditional association, not a recommendation to buy or wear one. Astrologers who suggest stones usually study the whole chart, including the strength and placement of the planet, before saying anything about it. Stones like blue sapphire are treated with particular caution in that tradition. If you are thinking about a stone, take time and seek a considered opinion rather than acting on a single lookup.
Other systems give lucky numbers in different ways, for example from the birth day in numerology. Those can disagree with the number shown here, since they start from a different basis.
Calculation settings
The Moon sign comes from sidereal positions with the Lahiri ayanamsa, calculated in our own engine. The correspondences are read from a fixed table. If the Moon was close to a sign boundary at your birth time, a small change in time can move it to the next sign and change its ruler.
Frequently asked questions
Why is this based on the Moon sign?
The Moon sign is the main reference point in Vedic practice. This page uses the planet that rules it.
Should I wear the gemstone shown?
The stone is a traditional association only. Astrologers who suggest stones look at the whole chart first.
Why is my numerology lucky number different?
Numerology usually starts from the birth date. This page starts from the Moon sign lord, so the two can differ.
Which ayanamsa is used for the Moon sign?
The Lahiri ayanamsa.
Do two signs give the same result?
Yes, when they share a ruler. Taurus and Libra both give the Venus set, for example.
